Transglutaminase IgA ELISA kit is an enzyme immunoassays (microtiter strips) for the qualitative and quantitative determination of IgA antibodies against Transglutaminase in human serum and plasma. Transglutaminase IgA ELISA kit is a solid phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on the sandwich principle. The wells of this Transglutaminase IgA ELISA kit are coated with antigen. Specific antibodies of the sample binding to the antigen coated wells are detected by a secondary enzyme conjugated antibody (E-Ab) specific for human IgA. After the substrate reaction the intensity of the color developed is proportional to the amount of IgA-specific antibodies detected. Results of samples can be determined directly using the standard curve.

The Transglutaminase IgA ELISA kit is shipped at ambient temperature and should be stored at 2-8°C. Keep away from heat or direct sunlight. The storage and stability of specimen and prepared reagents is stated in the protocol insert. The microtiter strips of this Transglutaminase IgA ELISA kit are stable up to the expiry date of the kit in the broken, but tightly closed bag when stored at 2–8°C.

Celiac disease is a frequently not detected hyperreactivity or intolerance against the wheat glue gluten. Anemia or chronical fatigue and depressions are signs of a latent disposition. The chronic autoimmune disease is caused by the ingestion of cereal-containing food (wheat). Up to now a biopsy of the small intestine was inevitable for classical diagnosis. Further antibody determinations by immunofluorescence against gliadin, reticulin and endomysium are usually performed. This protein is called tissue transglutaminase, occuring in all cells in tiny amounts and is produced amongst others during wound healing. The corresponding IgG and IgA antibodies are closely correlated to a damage of the small intestine. The Transglutaminase ELISA kit for the determination of IgG and IgA antibodies against transglutaminase is advantageous compared to the usual immunofluorescence detection of antibodies against endomysium. The test is simple can be rapidly performed and permits a quantitative assessment of the concentration of the transglutaminase antibodies. This allows the determination and the follow-up of the disease during treatment. Elevated levels of IgA antibodies against transglutaminase appear in patients with dermatitis herpetiformis and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (about 5%).
