ANGPT1 Human (Angiopoietin 1)

Synonyms:  ANG-1, KIAA0003, AGP1, AGPT, Angiopoietin-1.

Background:

  • Plays a vital role in angiogenesis, vascular and endothelial development.
  • Secreted as a glycoprotein which is responsible for activation of a tyrosine kinase receptor in hemopoietic and endothelial cells.
  • When glycosylated has a carboxy terminus that is fibrinogen-like and an amino terminus that is a coiled-coil.
  • Protein is responsible for the stability and maturation of blood vessels. It is also thought that it may play a role in the early stages of heart development.
